MHA Members in the News

Mississippi Humanist Association (MHA) members were featured on the front page of The Clarion-Ledger newspaper! Check out the story on The Clarion Ledger website.

MHA President Kim Gibson and MHA member Derenda Hancock are doing their part to ensure that the women accessing care at Jackson Women's Health Organization have someone to make their visit to the last remaining abortion clinic in Mississippi as safe and as comfortable as possible.

With the recent passage of  MS HB 1510, a Mississippi law that bans abortion after 15 weeks, a woman's constitutional right to choose abortion is being threatened. The Mississippi Humanist Association (MHA), a chapter of the American Humanist Association (AHA), supports the right to legal and safe abortion.

Mississippi's state government is prepared to commit hundreds of thousands of dollars to defend this law, dollars that the state can ill-afford to spend on legal fees, when so many other needs go unmet.

During this troubling time, we need to make sure our voices are heard. The best way to do that is to increase our numbers, and you can help. These is strength in numbers, and the more we work together, we show we are a constituency to be considered.
